SAHARSH- Social Emotional Learning Curriculum Framework launched in 40 schools of Tripura

Agartala, Aug 24: SAHARSH, a Social Emotional Learning Curriculum Framework, has been launched in 40 schools of Tripura as a pilot project on Wednesday.

According to Tripura Education minister Ratanlal Nath, who launched the project at a programme held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, this curriculum is a part of New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Tripura became the first state in the North East to launch such a programme for the Social Emotional Learning of the school students, he said, adding that the initiative would positively impact over 4 lakh students in the government schools.

Nath said, “Initially, the project will cover 40 schools in different districts of the state. The government has a plan to introduce this curriculum in all schools on the occasion of Children’s Day on November 14.”

According to the Education minister, the new programme has been launched in light of the urgent need to address the children's social and emotional well-being and holistic development.

Meanwhile, the Tripura government has launched multiple programmes including ‘Vidyajyoti Schools’ scheme over the past four and half years to strengthen the Education system across the state.

Addressing the programme, the Education minister also encouraged the students to always be smiling; it would help them stay positive.

School Education Director Chandni Chandran and other officials along with a good number of teachers and students also took part in the programme.

The programme was organized by the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in collaboration with Labhya Foundation.
