Agartala, Apr 22: A school building inauguration programme turned into a moment of quiet admiration for Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who displayed commendable presence of mind and compassion by stepping in to assist a school principal who suddenly fell ill during the event.
The incident took place at Amtali Higher Secondary School, the main venue of the programme, where Principal Ratna Chowdhury experienced a sudden bout of uneasiness while on stage.
Without hesitation, the Chief Minister—himself a seasoned dental surgeon—rushed to her aid and administered immediate first aid. Following his timely medical assistance, the principal recovered quickly and was able to regain stability.
The heartwarming gesture drew warm applause from attendees, highlighting the Chief Minister's empathy and sense of responsibility that goes beyond political duties.
The event was organized for inauguration of new buildings for six schools, constructed at a total cost of Rs. 27.38 crore, aimed at enhancing the academic infrastructure and learning environment for students.
From the Amtali H.S. School premises, Dr. Saha virtually inaugurated the buildings of five other schools—Henry Derozio Academy, Gandhigram H.S. School, Taltala H.S. School, Indranagar High School, and Nandan Nagar H.S. School—underlining his government’s continued focus on educational development.
Adding an eco-conscious dimension to the event, the Chief Minister also launched the ‘QR Codes for Flora’ initiative under the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE programme. Part of a national Earth Day campaign by the Ministry of Education, this project involves tagging plants with QR codes in school campuses, providing students with easy access to information on local flora.
Through this initiative, Dr. Saha evidently stressed the need for sustainable living and collective environmental responsibility, urging students and educators to become proactive in nurturing nature.
