Sepahijala draws huge crowd on year's first day, revenue collection touches Rs. 1.35 lakh

Agartala, Jan 01: Along with other tourist destinations of the state, Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary too witnessed an overwhelming crowd on the first day of 2025.

The ticket counter, which operated from 9 am to 5 pm, recorded a total revenue collection of Rs. 1,35,000, with approximately 5,000 visitors entering the sanctuary, according to an official.

This year, the number of tourists increased on the first day, as compared to previous year. On 1st January, 2024, the number of tourists in the sanctuary was 3800. Besides, the revenue collection also increased as compared to the first day of 2024. The amount collected at the ticket counter was 1,05,000 last year.

The Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary saw the arrival of visitors since early morning. Spanning over 18.53 sqm, this sanctuary has always been a major attraction for nature lovers.

The sanctuary has witnessed significant transformation, further enhancing its appeal, following sincere efforts of Zoological Director Biswajit Das.

Security measures for the visitors were notably tight. A police assistance center was set up at the ticket counter. ASI Uttam Kumar Deb said, around 250 vehicles were registered on Wednesday, and a thorough search led to the seizure of some illegal narcotics, ensuring a safe environment for all.
