Several steps taken to promote Tripura tourism on global scale: Tourism Minister

Agartala, Dec 09: Tripura Minister for Tourism Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday said the state government has taken several steps to promote the state's tourism potentials on global scale.

He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating an event organized at Neermahal as part of the on-going Tourism Promo Fest- 2024.

He mentioned the iconic Neermahal as one of the most preferred tourist destinations in the Northeastern region. Chowdhury also highlighted the historical importance of this water palace.

While appealing to everyone to protect the tourist sites, he said, tourist destinations serve as a major source of income throughout the year.

He also shared the government's plan to cover all the tourist sites of the state in the Tourism Promo Fest from the next year. He also reiterated the government's commitment to develop all tourism locations of the state in the next two years.

After inaugurating the event at Rajghat on the bank of picturesque Rudrasagar, the minister along with other guests went to the water palace where they enjoyed the vibrant light and sound show. 

Later, Tripura's pride Niharika Nath performed in a musical show. Every moment of the concert was magical and the audience was left spellbound. The musical evening also featured several other artists including a famous all-women band Maghbalika.

Sepahijala Zilla Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta, MLA Kishore Barman, MLA Bindu Debnath and MLA Tofajjal Hossain were among the dignitaries.

The Tourism Promo Fest is aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage and tourism potentials of Tripura. The main event of the festival will take at Swami Vivekananda Maidan, Agartala from December 12 to 14. Noted Bollywood singer Shreya Ghoshal will perform live on December 14 evening.
