Agartala, Dec 27: The women members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) have showcased an indomitable spirit of transformation and resilience during the 19th Regional SARAS Fair-2024.
The fair continued from December 14 to 26 at the Hapania International Fair ground, Agartala was a vibrant celebration of handmade craftsmanship, local delicacies and community spirit.
The fair, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on December 14, attracted an energetic crowd, with the display creativity of SHG Didis from across Tripura.
Thousands of visitors thronged the fairgrounds over the 12-day event which provided a platform for rural artisans to display their handmade crafts.
The participating SHG Didis demonstrated their incredible journey from overcoming challenges to achieving success through creativity and hard work with the support of TRLM. Their stalls not only showcased exquisite craftsmanship but also stood as a testament to their determination and entrepreneurial spirit.
“This fair is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of the courage and hard work of our rural women. The women members are not only sustaining their families through SHGs but also inspiring others,” an official commented.
The fair reflected the importance of community support in fostering self-reliance and economic empowerment among rural women.
Apart from purchasing items crafted with love, many of the visitors were seen engaged in meaningful interactions with the SHG Didis, learning about their success stories.
As this year’s SARAS Fair came to end, it left behind a legacy of hope and inspiration.
Amid the vibrant ambience, the stall of women-run ‘Tripura Tropics’ drew good public attention, with its vibrant display of pineapple slices, bamboo shoots, and fragrant incense sticks. Tripura Tropics is an initiative under the Sanjog Brand, managed by the Livelihood Sub-committee of the Muktadhara Cluster Level Federation in Kumarghat Block.
Launched in April 2024, Tripura Tropics has quickly made a name for itself, and its success at this year’s Saras Mela was recognized with the ‘Best Product’ and ‘Best Stall’ awards.
