Stocks of petroleum products sufficient in Tripura: Sushanta Chowdhury

Agartala, Mar 25: The Tripura government has reassured residents that petrol, diesel and LPG supplies remain stable across the state.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday convened a high-level meeting at Pragna Bhavan to review the availability and distribution of essential petroleum products.

The meeting brought together senior officials, petroleum dealers and LPG distributors to assess preparedness and address potential challenges.

The review comes against the backdrop of tensions in the Middle East, which have raised concerns over fuel supply chains globally. However, the state government maintained that Tripura remains well-stocked and is not facing any immediate disruptions.

During the meeting, the minister stressed the importance of maintaining a smooth and uninterrupted supply chain.

He directed stakeholders to ensure that distribution remains consistent across all districts and cautioned against any attempt to create artificial scarcity through hoarding or black marketing.

Officials also discussed measures to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and enhance coordination among agencies to prevent panic buying among consumers.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Chowdhury reiterated that the situation was normal. He confirmed that adequate stock of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders was available in the state, with additional supplies already on transit.

The government has urged the public not to panic, assuring that strict vigilance is being maintained to ensure fair distribution and price stability in the market.
