Agartala, Apr 07: A routine morning turned into a moment of surprise and concern at Ballamukha in Belonia of Aouth Tripura district, when a drone—suspected to be of Bangladeshi origin—was discovered in a paddy field, nearly 300 meters inside Indian territory, along the Indo-Bangladesh international boundary.
The drone recovery was made early Monday by local farmer Gopal Pal, who initially thought that the object was a toy. Upon closer inspection, the device was identified as a drone, prompting immediate alert.
Pal notified the landowner, Sadhan Majumdar, who temporarily secured the drone at his residence.
Local police from Belonia soon arrived on the scene and took the drone into custody for examination. Border Security Force (BSF) personnel also reached the area to evaluate the security implications and support the investigation.
Officials have launched a joint inquiry to trace the drone's origin and determine whether it was being used for surveillance or other cross-border activities.
