Agartala, Aug 05: Tripura Tea Development Corporation (TTDC) has registered significant achievements including increase in production of tea over the past three years, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

In a press conference, the Chief Minister accompanied by TTDC chairman Santosh Saha released a booklet on Thursday highlighting the three-year achievements of the Corporation.

“The government is working with priority to develop the primary sectors where the tea sector is an important component. Besides, initiatives have also been taken for developing tea tourism. The government also is committed to uplift the lifestyle of the tea workers,” Deb told the media.

The Tea Corporation already took some major initiatives over the last three years following which the small tea growers also registered significant profit, Deb added.

The TTDC chairman said the production of tea and the annual turnover were substantially increased following the positive approach of the Chief Minister.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister were working relentlessly for export of Tripura’s tea to neighbouring Bangladesh.
