Tipra Motha attacks BJP’s ST Morcha national president

Agartala, Nov 12: A group of BJP leaders including ST Morcha national president Samir Oraon was attacked allegedly by Tipra Motha at Barmura in Tripura’s Khowai district on Saturday evening.

The BJP leaders luckily had a narrow escape and managed to reach Agartala. Their vehicle was damaged in the attack.

The security personnel (PSO) had to open fire in the air to save the BJP leaders.  Unrest prevailed at Barmura following the incident. Finally, police reached the spot and controlled the situation.

The attack was launched by Tipra Motha workers when the BJP ST Morcha national president along with state president Bikas Debbarma, MDC Bidyut Debbarma, Patiram Tripura and others was returning to Agartala from a party programme in Kanchanpur.

“It was our good luck that we had a narrow escape. A Bolero vehicle suffered damages. The PSOs had to open fire in the air to save our lives,” Oraon told reporters.

He also said, the Tipra Motha supporters already started indulging in ‘gundagiri’ and are harassing people instead of working for the people.
