Tipra Motha secures resounding victory in TTAADC polls

Agartala, Apr 17: The Tipra Motha Party has stormed to power in the elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), clinching a decisive majority and reaffirming its dominance in the state’s tribal political landscape.

As per the final results declared on Friday, Tipra Motha has won 24 of the 28 seats, leaving the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with just four seats. Other parties, including the Left and Congress, failed to secure any representation in the council.

Reacting to the emphatic victory, party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma urged restraint among supporters, calling for unity and peaceful coexistence in the aftermath of the polls. While expressing gratitude to voters, he emphasized that the mandate should not lead to division or unrest.

Polling for the council elections was held on April 12, with the turnout of over 83 percent. The total number of enrolled voters was 9,62,547. A total of 173 candidates contested across 28 constituencies. The counting process began Friday morning under strict security arrangements at 17 counting centres across the state.

With this victory, Tipra Motha has further consolidated its position as the principal political force in the tribal belt, setting the stage for its next phase of governance and policy priorities.

As per the results announced by the State Election Commission, the total number of valid votes was 8,04,667. The BJP has secured 2,18,075 and TMP has received 4,57,943.

The vote counts of CPM, Congress and IPFT were 71,335, 15,738 and 17,664 respectively. 6022 votes were cast in NOTA.

Reaction of Chief Minister:

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha greeted Tipra Motha for its resounding victory in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.

"While we accept the people’s mandate with humility, we see this as an opportunity to learn and come back stronger", the Chief Minister wrote in a social media post.

He also extended heartfelt gratitude to all the Karyakartas of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the ADC elections for their courage, hard work, and dedication.

"Congratulations to all the winners, and warm wishes to the Tipra Motha Party on their success", he mentioned.

Dr. Saha, who campaigned hard before the elections, thanked the karyakartas for their tireless efforts, taking the message of the lotus to every household is a proud achievement.

"Our commitment to development, unity, and the people remains unwavering.  We will continue to move forward with greater strength and determination," the Chief Minister noted.
