Agartala, Aug 15: In a unique concept and a stunning display of patriotism, mud walls in a whole village of Tripura’s Majlishpur constituency were painted depicting the images of the Indian Freedom Fighters as the state joined the country in celebration of 75 years of independence.
As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, images of the freedom fighters have been painted on the walls of every household in North Majlishpur village of Jirania sub-division to pay tribute to the Freedom Fighters.
The initiative invited wide appreciation from various walks of life and the Tiranga village attracted a good number of visitors during Independence celebration.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha visited the Tiranga Village to witness wall paintings on freedom fighters on Monday, the 76th Independence Day. He was accompanied by Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury.
The Chief Minister lauded the initiative under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. He hoped that this initiative would motivate and inspire the present generation.
Meanwhile, the state earlier saw a similar effort named as Alpana Gram (Lankamura), but it was conceptualized to preserve the traditional rural art form—Alpana and train the local women.
