Tourism and Cultural Promotion Hub to be developed in Agartala

Agartala, Mar 13: In a step towards promoting the rich cultural heritage and tourism of Tripura, a hub will soon be developed in Agartala.
 
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the proposed “Tourism and Cultural Promotion Hub” at ICA office premises, Gandhighat in presence of other dignitaries.
 
The Chief Minister said, Tripura has a rich culture and tradition and the project aims to preserve it.
 
Tourism and Cultural Promotion Hub, the multi-storey complex, is coming up over an area of 1.61 acre with a built-up area of 1730 sqm. in the phase-I. An amount of Rs. 34.55 crore has been sanctioned from DoNER under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme for this project.
 
Some salient features of the Hub include Open Theatre (with 300 sqm. built-up area), auditorium of 250 seat capacity, two display galleries, statues of icons of the Northeastern states, proper parking area, entrance gate etc.
 
He said, the Northeast region is developing under the concepts of Ashtalaxmi and Act East Policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
 
The proposed hub would give a boost to the state’s tourism. He also said, the state saw an increase in the footfall of tourists over the past few years. In this view, he emphasized the need to develop infrastructure and strive for socio-economic development.
 
He said, the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ goal of the Prime Minister is reflecting in the state. He said, Tripura is developing in terms of connectivity as the Prime Minister fulfilled his promise of HIRA Model.
 
The welcome address was delivered by the Director of ICA Bimbisar Bhattacharya. Secretary P.K. Chakraborty also spoke on the upcoming project on this occasion. Subrata Chakraborty, vice-chairman of State Level Cultural Advisory Committee, and CEO of State Housing and Construction Board Shyamal Chakraborty were also present.
