TRAGIC: Mud wall collapse kills couple in Tripura

Agartala, July 03: A couple was killed and their two daughters were injured as the incessant rains resulted in collapse of mud wall in the house. 
Police confirmed the tragic deaths on Wednesday and said the incident was reported from West Tripura district’s Mekhlipara Gram Panchayat area.
The victims- Pranesh Tanti (30) and his wife Jhuma Tanti (25) along with their two daughters- one 3 month old and another 9 years old, were asleep when the mud wall collapsed.
The local villagers reached the house after hearing a noise on Tuesday late night. They found that the mud wall of the couple’s room was collapsed. Initially, there was no response from the couple.
They somehow managed to rescue the couple, who were daily-wage workers, and their daughters. While they were being taken to the hospital, the Jhuma died on the way. Her husband died later on. The two children are now under treatment.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed his sorrow over the couple's demise, assuring that the government is providing necessary assistance to the family. He also mentioned, efforts are underway to ensure the well-being of the injured children.
MLA of Khayerpur Ratan Chakraborty also went to the hospital on Wednesday morning and inquired about the children’s health status.
