Dharmanagar, May 23: Trained by son, a couple in North Tripura district has turned successful mushroom growers and set an example.

Manik Lal Das (65), his wife Gita Rani Das and daughter-in-law Maman Das of Agnibasa area under Panisagar sub-division are now earning handsome income from mushroom cultivation and inspiring many others in the locality. They sell around 12-15 kg mushroom every day.

Speaking to this correspondent, the growers said, “if properly trained, the youths may achieve success in mushroom cultivation. If any youth shows interest in taking training, we are here to support them.”

Gita Rani Das, one of the growers, said her son works under the Department of Agriculture and he trained the trio about the process of mushroom cultivation.

“As we started growing mushroom, it has become a good source of income for our family. There is a small shop in front of our house where we sell around 12-15 kg mushroom on a daily basis,” she said.
