Transport Minister reviews progress of capital investment projects in Tripura

Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday chaired a high-level review meeting to monitor the progress of projects sanctioned under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2024-25.

The meeting, held at the Secretariat’s Conference Hall, brought together senior officials including the Secretary and Commissioner of the Transport Department, the Chief Engineer of PWD (Rural Development), the CEO of Tripura Housing Board, and representatives from all eight districts.

Key discussions revolved around preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for new motor stands at Kalyanpur, Sidhai Mohanpur, Manubazar, Jatanbari, and Bishalgarh.

Chowdhury directed officials to expedite submission of land-related undertakings and ensure encroachment-free land for the proposed sites.

Another crucial agenda item was the planned Registered Vehicles Scrapping Facility at Sidhai Mohanpur, which is expected to bring a systematic and eco-friendly mechanism for disposal of old vehicles in the state.

The review also examined revenue augmentation strategies for the financial year 2025-26 and assessed the impact of ongoing enforcement drives by the Transport Department.

Emphasizing accountability, Minister Chowdhury called for timely completion of DPRs, proper coordination among departments, and efficient project execution.

He underlined that these initiatives are vital for strengthening Tripura’s transport infrastructure and boosting economic growth.
