Agartala, Aug 4: Reaffirming the government's commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and supporting the state's farming community, Tripura Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath today participated in a paddy plantation programme at Gajaria village in Mohanpur.

The event witnessed the participation of officials from the Agriculture Department, local public representatives, and a large number of farmers, highlighting the government's continued focus on promoting scientific and sustainable farming practices.

After planting paddy alongside farmers, the Minister said that agriculture remains one of the key pillars of the state's economy, and the food security of Tripura largely depends on the relentless efforts of its farming community.

He emphasized that the adoption of high-quality seeds, modern cultivation techniques, and scientific agricultural practices can significantly increase crop productivity while ensuring higher incomes for farmers.

"The government is consistently implementing various farmer-centric initiatives to modernize agriculture and improve rural livelihoods", he said.

Sharing his experience of working in the fields with farmers, Minister said, “The fragrance of the soil, feet covered in mud, and the genuine smiles of our farmers make this an unforgettable experience. Our farmers are the true architects of our food security. Standing beside them, recognizing their hard work, and making agriculture more prosperous is our collective responsibility”.

The Minister further stated that the overall development of the state is closely linked to the progress of its farmers.

“To make agriculture more profitable and technology-driven, the government is continuously providing training, improved seed varieties, modern agricultural machinery, and various forms of financial and technical assistance”, he said.

Farmers present at the programme appreciated the government's pro-farmer initiatives and expressed hope that such field-level programmes would continue in the future, further encouraging the adoption of advanced farming practices across the state.
