Tripura already launches 80 IFCs with Rs. 32 cr investment: CM

Tripura has already launched  activities for 80 Integrated Farming Clusters (IFCs) with an investment of Rs. 32 crore, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said on Thursday.

The objective of IFCs is to diversify and intensify livelihood intervention so that rural households can increase their income through integration and synergy, he said, according to a press release.

"To strengthen rural livelihood, particularly women SHG members, the Integrated Farming Cluster approach has been conceptualized under the DAY-NRLM," the Chief Minister noted while highlighting the benefits of the initiative.

Dr. Saha made these remarks after inaugurating a National Workshop on Integrated Farming Cluster for the North Eastern States in Agartala.

He said, under one Integrated Farming Cluster, 250 to 300 small and marginal farmers will be linked with Livelihood Service Centres.

The Livelihood Service Centres shall provide support for collective import sourcing, such as seeds, natural fertilisers and equipment and also shall help in aggregation of produce so that better markets can be accessed with better price realisation for the Mahila Kishans (Women Self-Help Group farmers).

Meanwhile, every Integrated Farming Cluster will have dedicated support providers in the form of Krishi Sakhi, Pashu Sakhi, Matsya Sakhi, and Community Resource Personnel for Enterprise promotion. They will provide necessary extension and hands-on support to these 200 to 300 farmers.
