Agartala, Aug 16: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha handed over awards and medals to individuals in various categories during the state-level Independence Day event at Assam Rifles ground on Thursday.

Police Medals for Meritorious Service (Republic Day)- 2023 were awarded to North Tripura district Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty, Asst. Commandant of 13th-Bn TSR Amal Debbarma, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Security) Kamal Shukladas, Subedar of 3rd-Bn TSR Hemant Bisht, Subedar of 3rd-Bn TSR Manindra Bardhan and retired police officer (SI) Ashis Kumar Das.
 
Home Guard and Civil Defence Medals for Meritorious Service were given to Ataur Rahman and Swapna Dutta Marak.
 
Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation for the year 2022 was handed over to Woman Sub-Inspector Emily Nandy.
 
Union Home Minister’s Medals for Excellence in Police training for the year- 2021-22 were given to Sabin Debbarma, Khoka Miah, Swapan Debbarma and Raju Sarkar.
 
Besides, two NCC cadets- Rajdeep Goswami (13th battalion) and Manish Bhowmik (15th battalion) also received recognition from the Chief Minister for their efficiency and remarkable achievements. Two other NCC cadets- Risa Debbarma (13th battalion) and Shubranil Chakraborty (13th battalion) were also awarded for remarkable achievement in climbing and youth exchange programme respectively.
 
Priyalal Sen was awarded as best forester of the year, Abdul Sattar was given ‘Van Ratna’ and Sadhan Debbarma of Forest department was also honoured.
