Agartala, Nov 18: Tripura has been awarded for its progress in the Fisheries sector. The National Fishery Development Board, Hyderabad has awarded Tripura as ‘Best Hilly and North Eastern State’ in Fisheries.

The award will be given in a programme at Bhubaneswar on November 21, the World Fisheries Day. The state will get Rs. 10 lakh as prize money.

Commenting on the achievement, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a tweet said his government is committed to make Tripura Atmanirbhar in Fisheries and working relentlessly to transform Tripura into a Fisheries Hub of the North East.

He appreciated the role of the employees in the Fisheries sector for this feat.
