Agartala, Nov 12: Tripura has secured a prestigious national accolade at the Udyog Samagam 2025, hosted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

The Northeastern state was conferred the Top Achiever Award in two critical reform categories under the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2024 — Business Entry and Labour Regulation Enablers — recognizing its strides in simplifying regulatory frameworks and fostering investor confidence.

The award was formally presented to Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma by Union Minister Piyush Goyal during the high-profile event held in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in Tripura’s journey toward becoming a business-friendly destination in the Northeast.

Tripura, listed under Category X — which includes Northeastern states and Union Territories with developing administrative systems — emerged as an Aspirer State in this year’s BRAP evaluation. The state was lauded for: Consistent implementation of reform measures; Innovative policy design and Governance-led facilitation for ease of doing business.

The BRAP 2024 framework assessed 434 reform indicators across central and state domains, supported by one of India’s most extensive feedback exercises involving over 5.8 lakh businesses and 1.3 lakh stakeholder interviews across 34 States and UTs.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha celebrated the honour in a social media post, calling it “One more feather in Tripura’s cap.” He emphasized that the award reflects growing investor trust in Tripura’s reform-driven ecosystem. The state has already inked MoUs worth over Rs 15,000 crore across sectors such as industry, healthcare, education, IT, energy, and tourism, signaling robust economic momentum.

“Heartiest congratulations to Team Tripura for their tireless efforts and commitment that have brought this national honour to our State,” the Chief Minister added.

Tripura’s recognition at Udyog Samagam 2025 is expected to catalyze further industrial development, positioning the state as a rising hub for investment, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth in the Northeastern region.
