Tripura Cabinet approves recruitment of 1,061 teachers, 213 AMC posts

Agartala, Oct 8: The Tripura Cabinet has approved a series of decisions aimed at strengthening the state’s education system, expanding employment opportunities and improving urban civic services, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said.

According to the minister, the Cabinet has decided to recruit 1,061 teachers under the Education Department.

Of these, 700 Graduate Teachers will be appointed for Classes IX and X under the Secondary Education Department. Another 361 teachers will be recruited under the Elementary Education Department, comprising 75 Graduate Teachers and 286 Undergraduate Teachers.

The Cabinet has also approved the filling up of 213 posts of various categories in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).

The posts cover technical, administrative and service-related functions. The move is expected to strengthen the manpower of the civic body and support the delivery of municipal services.

In another decision, the Cabinet approved an increase in the sitting allowance for the Chairman and members of the Welfare Sub-Committee under the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department. The allowance has been raised from Rs 100 to Rs 200 per meeting.

The Cabinet also approved an increase in the daily boarding house stipend for students under the minority welfare programme, raising it from Rs 65 to Rs 100 per day for students residing in residential boarding houses.

Meanwhile, eight vacant Lower Division Clerk (LDC) posts under the Science, Technology and Environment Department will also be filled following the Cabinet’s decision.

The decisions, the minister said, cover key areas including education, employment, urban administration and welfare.
