Tripura cabinet hikes grant for Antyodaya Shradhanjali Yojana

In a significant pro-people move, the Tripura Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has approved a substantial hike in financial assistance under the *Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Shradhanjali Yojana.
Briefing the media on Friday, Cabinet Spokesperson and Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the one-time grant provided to Antyodaya families in the event of a member’s death has been increased fivefold—from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 10,000.
The Cabinet also cleared several new initiatives under the Social Welfare and Social Education department. Among them, the ‘Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Kanya Bibaha Yojana’ has been approved, under which daughters of Antyodaya families will be eligible for a one-time financial aid of Rs. 50,000 at the time of marriage.
In another major welfare measure, the cabinet has cleared ‘Chief Minister’s Scheme for Mentally Challenged Persons’. Under this scheme, persons with mental disabilities will receive a monthly allowance of Rs. 5,000 to ensure direct and sustained support, he said.
As decided by the council of ministers, Chowdhury said, the department would soon fill up four vacant posts of Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), ensuring better implementation of social welfare schemes.
Besides, the Cabinet has approved creation and filling of several posts under several departments. These included 45 posts of Senior Manager (Electrical) in the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) under the Power Department and 25 posts of various categories under the Law (PA) Department.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha in a social media post reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening social security and creating employment opportunities.
