Under the direction of Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha on Friday conducted a high-level meeting to curb illegal infiltration into the state.
Stepping up its vigilance against illegal infiltration, the Tripura government has already strengthened its measures to curb cross-border movement from neighboring Bangladesh.
The high-level security review meeting was convened at the state secretariat on Friday to prioritize the issue amid ongoing regional concerns over illegal entry, particularly involving Rohingya migrants, according to sources.
Top officials including Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag, Home Secretary Abhishek Singh, Inspector General of BSF, and senior representatives from multiple state and central security agencies participated in the deliberations.
Sources revealed that BSF data indicated a noticeable decline in illegal infiltration attempts over the past three months. However, officials remain cautious, emphasizing that sustained vigilance is essential to prevent future surges.
The meeting underscored the need for enhanced coordination among the border security force, intelligence networks, and local law enforcement agencies to ensure airtight security along the international border.
