Agartala, Sept 25: Preparations for the upcoming general elections to Tripura’s urban local bodies have entered a crucial phase, with the State Election Commission finalizing the polling arrangements and announcing the schedule for preparation of the electoral rolls.

The Commission has released the final list of 783 polling stations for the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats across the state.

The polling station exercise is among the key preparatory steps ahead of the civic polls, with the AMC accounting for the largest share of the total. A total of 439 polling stations have been finalized within the AMC area.

Among the other urban local bodies, Dharmanagar Municipal Council has 45 polling stations, followed by Udaipur with 34, Teliamura with 24 and Kailashahar with 20.

The number of polling stations in the remaining urban local bodies is as follows: Ranirbazar 13, Mohanpur 15, Kumarghat 15, Panisagar 13, Ambassa 15, Kamalpur 11, Khowai 15, Amarpur 13, Melaghar 17, Sonamura 13, Bishalgarh 18, Bishramganj 11, Belonia 17, Santirbazar 15, Sabroom 9 and Jirania 11.

Alongside polling station finalization, the State Election Commission has also laid down a clear timeline for updating the electoral rolls, another key component of the election process.

The draft electoral roll will be published on October 1, following which voters and other stakeholders will have an opportunity to submit claims and objections. The window for filing claims and objections will remain open until October 8.

The Commission has scheduled the disposal of all claims and objections by October 12, paving the way for publication of the final electoral roll on October 15, 2026.

As per the notification, the electoral rolls for the municipal and urban local body areas will initially be prepared on the basis of the electoral roll currently in force for the Tripura Legislative Assembly elections.
