Tripura CM approves STF formation to tackle emerging threats

In a decisive move to bolster internal security and crack down on emerging threats, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha approved formation of a Special Task Force (STF) under the state police.

The STF proposed take the lead in combating a wide spectrum of security challenges—from organized crime and drug trafficking to extremism and cross-border criminal networks.

Designed to operate through intelligence-led strategies, the task force will act as a rapid response team for high-risk operations and sensitive investigations, according to official sources.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who gave the green signal for the initiative, said that maintaining law and order and safeguarding citizens remains the top priority of his government.

The STF is expected to significantly strengthen the backbone of Tripura’s law enforcement machinery, particularly in border-sensitive zones. The move will not only boost confidence among citizens but also send a strong message against any attempt to undermine the rule of law.
