Agartala, Sept 03: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday made an appeal to the students to stay away from use of drugs.
After launching state-level Mukhyamantri Sustha Shaishab, Sustha Kaishor Abhiyan 3.0 at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan on Saturday, Dr. Saha said, a trend of taking drugs is working among a section of the students while the state government is sincerely working to improve the healthcare service.
He passed an instruction to the Health department to raise awareness among the youths on this issue. He also sought cooperation from all sections of people for building Ek Tripura, Sushtyo Tripura.
The Chief Minister laid emphasize on health and mental wellness of children and the adolescents. He said, Today’s children and adolescent are tomorrow’s good citizens of the country.
He said, physical and mental development occurs in boys and girls mainly when they are in growing stage. There are about 39 percent children and adolescents in the country.
The present government is working sincerely to ensure good health to every child and adolescent.
He said, children and adolescent would be able to tackle disease only when their immunity is improved. That is why, Mukhyamantri Sustha Shaishab, Sustha Kaishor programme has been taken up. Different departments under the state government are working towards implementing the programme.
Under this program, from September 5 to 8, the teaching staff, Anganwadi workers, MPWs and ASHA workers would administer medicines to the students in educational institutions.
In the next part, the Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers would visit door to door and administer the medicines from September 9 to 15.
The Chief Minister administered the medicines to a few students in the programme. Some students were also vaccinated in the programme in presence of the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister also awarded officials of different hospital and health care centres of the state in the programme.
Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, Director of Social Welfare and Social Education Dr. Sidharth Shiv Jaiswal, Director of School Education department Chandni Chandran also spoke on the occasion.
The welcome speech was delivered by Director of National Health Mission Subhashish Das and the vote of thanks was presented by Director of Health department Dr. Subhashish Debbarma.
