Agartala, Aug 01: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday inspected the works under Agartala Light House Project, a dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After inspection, the Chief Minister passed an instruction to the officials concerned for speedy completion of the project.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said he would meet the Prime Minister and apprise him about progress of the project on August 6 next.

Dr. Saha said, he is aware of various problems arising in implementing the projects. He asked the officials to solve the problems and complete the project at the earliest.

He said, the Light House Project would fulfill the dream of many families in the Economic Weaker Section for housing.

Agartala Lighthouse Project is one of the six dream projects of the Prime Minister being implemented in six states of the country. Six separate technologies are being used in the six projects.

“Light House projects have been initiated in six states of the country while project in Chennai has already been completed. The Tripura government aims to complete the Agartala Light House Project as soon as possible”, the Chief Minister added.

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s hi-tech steel technology is being used in construction of the flats. While the technology is modern in nature and earthquake resistant, it is also cost-effective and ensures longevity more than the normal buildings.

The Light House Project will have 1000 flats in seven blocks with the total project cost of Rs 162.50 crore. The Project is underway on 33000 sqm land at Golchakkar area near Agartala-Akhaura border area. According to the Chief Minister, more than 900 beneficiaries have already booked flats and paid the advance.

Each flat would cost Rs. 16.25 lakh and the amount is more than Rs. 30 lakh including the land cost. But the beneficiaries would have to pay a specific amount; the remaining amount would be borne by the government.

Urban Development Minister Manoj Kanti Deb, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, Secretary of Urban Development department Kiran Gitte and West Tripura District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit to the Light House Project site.
