Tripura CM calls on PM Modi, 3 central ministers, discusses connectivity and other projects

Agartala, June 27: Chief Minister of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha discussed several projects including Belonia-Feni international rail connectivity during his courtesy meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and three other Union Ministers in New Delhi on Thursday.

In his meeting with the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister placed proposals for a new international rail link from Belonia in Tripura to Feni in Bangladesh, Indo-Bangladesh connectivity via Maitri Bridge, international tag for Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala, conversation of single rail lines to double-line tracks, inclusion of Sabroom-Ramgarh-Chittagong and Sabroom-Ramgarh-Mongla routes as the protocol routes for transit and trans-shipment and establishment of Agar International Trade and Research Centre at Agartala.

He then discussed, construction of 15 new Ekalavya Model Residential Schools, pending negotiations with the Department of Economic Affairs for the World Bank assisted Element, issues pending with LPAI and removal of embargo on the export of value-added product to Bangladesh. Dr. Saha also requested the Prime Minister for purchase of gas from GAIL at a lower price and increasing grants in Central Finance Commission.

In his meeting with the Prime Minister at the new parliament building, the Chief Minister conveyed greetings for his third consecutive term as Pradhan Sevak of the country. He also discussed various issues related to the state’s development, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat.

We also discussed various developmental issues in order to fulfill our commitment of #ViksitBharat,” the Chief Minister wrote on X.

As part of his Delhi visit, the Chief Minister also called on Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and BJP’s national president J.P. Nadda. Dr. Saha discussed various important matters related to the state’s development.

During the meeting with Rajnath Singh at his official residence in Delhi, Dr. Saha requested for transfer of GREF land to the State and establishment of Sainik School at Assam Rifles land at Teliamura and Udaipur.

In his discussions with the Home Minister, Dr Saha proposed for sanctioning two more IR battalions in Tripura, releasing funds under Security Related Expenditure, releasing funds for purchasing various items for seizures and sampling storage and disposal of NDPS.

Dr. Saha proposed establishment of AIIMS-like institute and a Medical College at Kulai under Dhalai District during the meeting with Nadda. He also sought one-time special grant to continue uninterrupted National Ambulance Services and extend the Regional Geriatric Centre Project.

The Chief Minister also called on the Governor of Tripura Indra Sena Reddy Nallu and also met Padma Shri Chitta Maharaj of ‘Shantikali Ashram at Tripura Bhavan.
