Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha met four central ministers in New Delhi and discussed important matters related to state’s development on Monday.
Dr. Saha met Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Union Tribal Welfare minister Arjun Munda, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush- Sarbananda Sonowal and BJP president J.P. Nadda.
During interactions with the central ministers, Dr. Saha placed various demands including additional 6523 houses under PMAY-U and funds for two more Ekalavya Schools. He also discussed various development matters.
In his meeting with the Union Tribal Welfare minister, Dr. Saha sought funds for setting up two more Ekalavya Schools and introducing smart classrooms, Math labs, English labs in 211 schools of the state.
According to the Chief Minister, the Union Minster of Road Transport and Highways approved a Rs. 200-crore project for Tripura for construction of Pucca Bridge and concrete roads.
The project has been approved under the 'Central Toad Infrastructure Fund for Construction' during the meeting in Delhi on Monday. Dr. Saha in a Facebook post mentioned that he had a fruitful meeting with the Union Minister along with Minister of State General Vijay Kumar Singh in New Delhi.
In the meeting, according to Dr.
Saha, the Union Minister passed an instruction to the officials of NHIDCL for including Tripura's Kamalpur-Ambassa- Gandacherra- Amarpur road (148 km), Udaipur- Sonamura- Cumilla road (44 km) and Agartala bypass road (25 km in western side) in Bharatmala 2.0 project.
Besides, he also passed an instruction to start works for converting Agartala-Teliamura segment of NH-08 into four lanes and Khowai to Sabroom national highway via Teliamura and Amarpur.
The Chief Minister also met Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways & Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal at Transport Bhawan, New Delhi.
The Union Minister, according to Dr. Saha, gave assurances to set up a 50-bedded Ayush hospital and 50 Health and Wellness Centres in Tripura. He also assured full cooperation in dredging of the River and development of waterways Connectivity with the main land.
After the meeting, Sonowal tweeted, “Had a good meeting with Tripura CM Shri @DrManikSaha2 ji in New Delhi. Discussed development of Ayush and inland waterways. A frontier state, Tripura holds huge potential to further India's economic growth via these important sectors.”
Dr. Saha then met Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri regarding issues of Water Supply, Sewerage and Housing in urban areas of Tripura.
The Union Minister agreed to look into the request for sanctioning additional funds for Agartala Light House Project, providing 6000 Sewerage Connections from Barjala Sewerage Treatment Plant, sanction of water supply schemes in 8 smaller towns under AMRUT 2.0 and sanction of additional 6523 houses under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Urban. These additional sanctions from MoHUA will help in improving 'Ease of Living' in urban areas of Tripura State.
