Tripura CM inaugurates two-day conference of NE’s top police officials

Agartala, Nov 22: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated a two-day conference of top police officials from all North Eastern states at Prajna Bhavan, Agartala on Tuesday.

Tripura Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan along with police chiefs and IGPs of North Eastern states, Central Intelligence Bureau, Narcotics Control Bureau and high officials of different levels joined the conference. 

In his remark, Dr. Saha said, drugs from different states and countries are illegally entering Tripura. The central government is working with Zero Tolerance Policy against drugs and Tripura is also continuing its drive against drugs along with all the North Eastern states. 

The Chief Minister said that the Northeastern states would take up certain plans in the conference to end drugs menace. 

Dr. Saha in a social media post mentioned, there would be discussions on the fight against drugs, Rohingya movement, infiltration and other important issues during the conference.

“Under the leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji, the NE states are now holding good position in terms of law & order. The conference with the NE's top police officials which is being held in Tripura after many years is important in view of dealing with various crimes,” the Chief Minister tweeted.

Speaking in the conference, the Chief Minister said, border fencing has almost been completed in Tripura. To complete fencing in the remaining areas, regular communication is being done with the Bangladesh government.

The Chief Minister said, the central government is working for the development of the Northeast under Act East Policy. The Northeastern states are at present jointly working together towards development.
