Tripura CM launches scathing attack on TMC

Agartala, Sept 05: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) without naming the party.

"A West-Bengal based political party has entered Tripura. The leadership of that party is involved in cattle smuggling in West Bengal. In Tripura also, the party is attracting such people who are involved in anti-social activities. I have evidence based on which I will send them behind the bars," Deb said.

The statement came from Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb during a party programme at Barjala constituency.

He hinted that sufficient evidence was available with the administration on the anti-social elements and legal steps would be taken against them.

According to Deb, he worked hard at Barjala constituency in 2017 (at the time of bypolls) after he got charge of Tripura in 2015. Deb said, he visited every house in the constituency during that period-- everybody knows him, he also knows everyone.

In the programme, Deb made an appeal to the party workers to visit opposition party workers' houses to highlight the achievements and planning of the BJP-IPFT government.

In the programme organized at Chinaihani ground, as many as 965 CPI-M and other party voters joined the BJP-- they were welcomed by the Chief Minister and BJP state unit president Dr. Manik Saha and local MLA Dr. Dilip Kumar Das.

This was one of the biggest joining programmes of BJP in recent times. Earlier on last month, over 1300 voters had joined the BJP in South Tripura district, once a Left stronghold.

In Barjala programme, the gathering of women and youths was noticable. Overwhelmed by the huge response, Deb said the new entrants were inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pro-people activities.
