Tripura CM presents various medals, certificates on I-Day

Agartala, Aug 16: Several police officers and personnel of Tripura Police were honoured with certificates and medals during the state-level Independence Day celebrations at the Assam Rifles Ground in Agartala on Saturday for their outstanding contribution, dedication, integrity and professional excellence in service.
 
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha presented the awards to last year’s recipients of the President's medals.
 
For Distinguished Service, the President's Medal was awarded to Tripura’s Director General of Police (DGP) in-charge, G.S. Rao. The Chief Minister presented the certificate and medal to the DGP.
 
The President’s Medal for Meritorious Service was conferred on Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma, Superintendent of Police Maniklal Das, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Debbarma, SDPO Pannalal Sen, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyamal Debbarma, and Subedar Niranjan Debbarma of the 8th Battalion TSR. The recipients were felicitated by the Chief Minister.
 
The President’s Medal for Meritorious Service was also awarded to DIGP (Northern Range) Ratiranjan Debnath, Subedar Pashuram Debbarma of the 1st Battalion TSR, Havildar Dilip Kumar Singh of the 5th Battalion TSR, Special Branch Constable Dhruv Kapali, Police Training Academy Constable Uttam Debnath, and North District Constable Hemendra Chandra Nath. The Chief Minister presented the honours to them.
 
Sub-Inspector Jhutan Jamatia received the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence.
 
NCC personnel who participated in the Republic Day camp in New Delhi last year were also honoured during the ceremony. They included Senior Under Officer Salka Debbarma of 13 Tripura Battalion NCC, Senior Under Officer Joydeep Saha of 15 Tripura Battalion NCC, Under Officer Sagarika Majumdar of 13 Tripura Battalion NCC, Under Officer Krishna Vaishnav of 15 Tripura Battalion NCC, Cadet Shahit Debbarma of 13 Tripura Battalion NCC and Cadet Akash Jamatia of 15 Tripura Battalion NCC. The Chief Minister handed over certificates and medals to the awardees.
 
Meanwhile, the names of police officers and personnel who have been selected for the President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service on Independence Day this year were announced at the ceremony. The certificates and medals for the 2026 awardees will be formally presented during the 2027 Republic Day celebrations.
