Tripura CM reaches Bengal to attend BJP govt’s oath ceremony

Agartala, May 9: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha reached Kolkata on Friday evening to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the fir BJP-led government in Bengal, scheduled to take place on Saturday coinciding with the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.

Dr. Saha is also scheduled to join the oath ceremony in Assam on May 12 next.

Speaking at an official programme in Agartala, Dr. Saha said he will participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the new West Bengal government at the historic Brigade Parade Ground.

On Friday, senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has been named as the next Chief Minister of West Bengal after the BJP secured a landmark victory in the Assembly elections.

The oath ceremony is expected to witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, senior Union ministers and Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states.

After the Bengal programme, the Tripura Chief Minister will also attend the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP-led government in Assam scheduled to be held on May 12. The BJP has retained power in the neighbouring state following the recent Assembly elections.

Several national leaders of the party are expected to attend the Assam event as well, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to be present during the ceremony.
