Tripura CM sends state’s famous pineapple to B’desh PM as gift

Agartala, July 8: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has sent state’s famous pineapple to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a gift.
It was a return gift from Tripura for the Bangladesh Prime Minister. Recently, she had sent the country’s popular Haribhanga mangoes to the state.
The pineapple consignment was dispatched through the Agartala-Akhaur integrated check post on Saturday, an official said.
Director of the Horticulture and Soil Conservation Dr. Phani Bhushan Jamatia, Joint Director Shantanu Debbarma, Assistant Director Dr. Deepak Baidya as well as Customs and Border Security Force officers from the Akhaura border were present at the time of handing over the gift to representatives of Bangladesh.
The Horticulture director said a total of 700 pieces of pineapples (Kew variety) were sent as a heartfelt gesture from the Chief Minister. These fruits were packed in 100 cartons, with each box containing seven pineapples.
The exchange of such delectable fruits signifies the mutual appreciation and cordial relations shared by both leaders. The diplomatic ties between India and Bangladesh have strengthened over the years.
