The Tripura government on Thursday suspended a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan, who was posted in Agartala traffic unit, after a video went viral on social media.
In the video, Suman Das (ward boy) of 3rd-Bn TSR was seen misbehaving and kicking a person along the main road. Soon after the video went viral on social media, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha took swift action.
According to an official order issued by the competent authority, the suspension has been enforced under sub-rule (1) of Rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965, read with Rule 43 of the Tripura State Rifles (Discipline, Control, Service Conditions etc.) Rules, 1988.
The order states, “WHEREAS a disciplinary proceeding against No. 02091055 E/F (Ward Boy) Suman Das of 3rd Bn TSR is contemplated. NOW, THEREFORE, the undersigned being the appointing authority, in exercise of the powers conferred... hereby places the said No. 02091055 E/F (Ward Boy) Suman Das under suspension with immediate effect.”
It has been further directed that during the period of suspension, Suman Das’s headquarters shall be 3rd Battalion TSR at Kachucherra. He has also been instructed not to leave the designated headquarters without prior approval from the appointing authority.
