Tripura CM to meet PM, discuss opening of Maitri Setu

Agartala, Aug 12: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday inspected Bharat-Bangla Maitri Setu at Sabroom in South Tripura. He interacted with the official concerned and also visited the Integrated Check Post.
According to a government press release, the Chief Minister said that he would soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hold discussion regarding opening of the Maitri Setu.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Saha also hinted that the Maitri Setu would be opened by December this year while initiatives would be taken for introducing express train from Sabroom.
As part of his visit to Sabroom, the Chief Minister took part in inauguration of various facilities— Tertiary Waste Treatment Centre constructed at cost of Rs. 1.40 crore, a passenger shed nearby Sabroom College, a Tribal Rest House at Kalacherra, SDMO’s office and an intensive Covid treatment centre for children at Sabroom sub-division hospital.
He then interacted with the students of Michael Madhusudhan Dutta College, Sabroom. He also unveiled a statue of Rishi Aurobindo in front of the New Town Hall, handed over pattas to 20 persons under Mukhyamantri Cha Shramik Prakalp and also handed over a wheelchair to specially abled college student Reena Das.
Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad Kakali Das Dutta, MLA Sankar Roy, chairperson of Sabroom Nagar Panchayat Rama Poddar Dey, South Tripura District Magistrate Saju Wahid A, and SP South Tripura Dr. Kulwant Singh were present in various programmes.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also took part in a party programme at Jalefa School ground where 130 voters joined the saffron camp on Thursday.
