Tripura CPM’s sitting MLA, TMC leader join BJP

Agartala, Jan 27: Tripura’s CPI(M) sitting MLA from Tripura Moboshar Ali and former Congress MLA  and TMC leader Subal Bhowmik joined Bharatiya Janata Party at party headquarters in New Delhi on Friday evening.

They joined the party in presence of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, party’s state president Rajib Bhattacharhee, state in-charge Dr Mahesh Sharma and other party leaders.

The BJP has got a major boost with joining of the two leaders from CPM and TMC leader ahead of the assembly polls scheduled to take place on February 16 next.

Speaking to the media, the Tripura Chief Minister said, the people's support is with the BJP and it will again form the government.

Meanwhile, the BJP central election committee held a meeting in New Delhi on Friday to decide the candidate lists for the assembly polls to Tripura and two other north-eastern states. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J.P. Nadda attended the meeting.

The BJP is very likely to announce the candidate list on Saturday with some changes in the sitting MLAs, according to sources.
