Agartala, Aug 12: The Tripura government has relaxed its eligibility rules for recruitment to state government posts, removing the mandatory requirement of a Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC).
Under the revised policy, candidates seeking government employment will instead have to establish that they studied continuously for at least five years in schools located in Tripura, covering Classes I to XII.
The decision was announced by Tourism Minister and Cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury following Wednesday’s meeting of the state Council of Ministers. The change comes after a Delhi-based resident approached the Tripura High Court over the PRTC requirement and the court directed the government to reconsider the matter.
The Cabinet also cleared recruitment proposals for 552 vacant posts across several departments.
Of these, 310 Junior Engineer posts in Grade V(A) and Grade V(B) will be filled through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC). Grade V(A) vacancies comprise 169 posts in Civil Engineering, eight in Mechanical Engineering and 18 in Electrical Engineering. Grade V(B) includes 104 Civil, five Mechanical and six Electrical posts. Candidates will require a diploma in the relevant engineering discipline.
Another 185 Junior Pump Operator posts under the Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) Department will be recruited through the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT). Applicants must have passed Madhyamik and possess an ITI qualification.
The Cabinet further approved the recruitment of 57 faculty members for the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry. The vacancies include 17 Professor, 20 Associate Professor and 20 Assistant Professor posts, with recruitment to be conducted through the TPSC.
In another decision, the government approved the allotment of 2.5 gandas of land in Agartala to Commonwealth Games gold medallist Asmita Dey. The government will also pay an allotment premium of Rs 33,50,239 for the land.
The Cabinet also gave its approval for establishing new fire stations at Boxanagar, Manu Bankul, Garji and Ganganagar.
Meanwhile, the General Administration (Political) Department's financial assistance scheme for families of ex-servicemen was also reviewed. The Cabinet decided to increase the grants provided under the scheme.
