Tripura election: LF inducts 24 new faces in candidate list, only 13 seats for Cong

Agartala, Jan 25: Left Front will contest in 47 seats in the ensuing assembly polls while its alliance partner- Congress got only 13 seats.
Surprisingly, the Left front introduced 24 new faces in its candidate list announced on Wednesday. Four-time Chief Minister and a hardcore communist- Manik Sarkar has taken a break from contesting the polls this time.
Out of 47 seats, only two women have been given ticket by the Left Front.
Meanwhile, along with Sarkar, some of the veteran CPI-M leaders and former ministers- Badal Chowdhury, Tapan Chakraborty, Sahid Chowdhury and Banulal Saha didn’t get party’s ticket for the crucial 2023 assembly polls.
CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury will fight contest the polls from Sabroom constituency. According to sources, Congress leaders including MLA Sudip Roy Barman are ‘unhappy’ with only 13 seats.
