Tripura folk artist awarded prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar

Agartala, Feb 24: Eminent folk artist from Tripura Tarubala Debbarma has been awarded the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for the year 2020 for her outstanding contribution to the preservation and promotion of Tripuri Folk Art Forms and Culture.

President of India Droupadi Murmu presented the award during a ceremony recently held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and others congratulated Debbarma for her achievement.

She has been actively involved in the preservation and promotion of Tripuri Folk Art Forms for more than three decades.

The Sangeet Natak Akademi Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the field of performing arts in India. It is conferred by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India’s national academy for music, dance, and drama, to recognize and honor individuals who have made exceptional contributions to their respective art forms.
