Tripura Food minister warns of action against undue price hike by traders

Agartala, Aug 23: In response to the ongoing severe flood in Tripura, the Food department has taken proactive steps to ensure the stable supply and control prices of essential goods, including petroleum products and LPG cylinders in markets.

Addressing a press conference, Food minister Sushanta Chowdhury assures adequate stock and supply of essential commodities in the state. 
He also warned, any attempt by the traders of black-market or undue price hike would invite strict action.

To address the concerns arising in this difficult time, the Food minister chaired a high-level meeting at the Secretariat's conference hall on Friday.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Director of Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Sub-Divisional Controllers (Food), and representatives from the All Tripura Distributors Association, All Tripura Merchants Association, Potato, Onion, and Garlic Merchants Association, Wholesale Groceries Merchants Association, Chamber of Trade and Business, and various market committees. 

Officials from the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) were also present to discuss the supply of petroleum products and LPG.

Chowdhury said, the Food department is committed to maintaining price stability and ensuring the uninterrupted supply of essential goods during this challenging time.
 
The Minister emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to prevent any disruption in the market and to protect the interests of consumers across the state.
