Agartala, Jan 18: Tripura football player John Jamatia has been called up to play for the Indian football team. John Jamatia, a student of Tripura Sports School, is getting a great opportunity to wear the Indian team jersey and be a part of Indian team in international matches. 

John has been selected to play for the Indian team in the Subrata Mukherjee Cup International Football Tournament.

A letter has come to Tripura Sports School asking to send John Jamatia for a training session to play for the Indian team in the Under-17 Elite Youth League organized by the All India Football Federation. 

On the basis of his participation in various age-based S M Cup national tournaments held in New Delhi and Bangalore from September 19 to October 23 last year, the selection committee selected John Jamatia from Tripura to play for the Indian team.

This is undoubtedly a great news in the state’s football world. It is expected that John will be able to further brighten Tripura’s name by getting an opportunity in the upcoming tournament.
