Tripura gets Homeopathic Medical College: CM says, Govt believes in earning people’s trust through works

Agartala, Oct 07: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday said the present state government believes in earning people's trust through its work and is committed to translating its promises into reality.

The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating the Tripura Government Homeopathic Medical College and Netaji Subhas Homeopathic Hospital at Renters’ Colony in Agartala.

He said, with the state government expanding medical education infrastructure within Tripura, students can now pursue a wider range of healthcare-related courses without having to travel outside the state at considerable expense.

The Chief Minister further said, the establishment of the new institution has further widened opportunities for students aspiring to pursue medical education in the state, while an Ayurvedic hospital is also set to be introduced.

Dr. Saha said that in the past, opportunities for students from Tripura to pursue medical education were limited, forcing many to go outside the state and spend large amounts of money on their studies.

“Today, with the establishment of various medical colleges in the state, opportunities to study MBBS, dental sciences, nursing and BHMS have increased significantly,” he said, adding that students would also get opportunities to pursue education in Ayurvedic medicine in the coming days.

He further said that apart from government initiatives, more private medical colleges would also come up in Tripura. The Shija Group is set to establish a state-of-the-art medical college and hospital in the state at an estimated investment of around Rs 700 crore.

According to Saha, the establishment of medical colleges in different parts of the state would not only strengthen healthcare infrastructure but also contribute to improving the quality of life and socio-economic development of surrounding areas.

“Through new healthcare services, the government has opened a new door in the field of medical treatment,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the state government was implementing its development commitments in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also announced that a new medical college would be established in Dhalai district in the future.

Highlighting the importance of peace and stability for development, Saha said maintaining peace, harmony and a conducive law-and-order environment across the state was essential. He claimed that the presence of such an environment had helped attract private investment of around Rs 1.32 lakh crore to Tripura recently.

Referring to the newly established Homeopathic Medical College, the Chief Minister said the first batch of students and teachers would have a special sense of pride as pioneers of the institution.

He noted that modern technology is increasingly being used in homeopathic treatment as well. “To gain experience and excel in any system of medicine and healthcare delivery, one has to move forward by taking up challenges,” he said.

Agartala Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta attended the programme as the special guest.

Health Secretary Kiran Gitte said Tripura had witnessed significant improvements in its healthcare infrastructure. He attributed the transformation in the state's health sector to the visionary approach of the Chief Minister.

Among others present at the programme were Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saju Wahid A, Director of Health Services Dr Debashree Debbarma, Director of Tripura Medical Education Dr H.P. Sharma, and Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Dr Anjan Das.

Principal of Tripura Government Homeopathic Medical College and Netaji Subhas Homeopathic Hospital Dr Abhijit Chattopadhyay delivered the welcome address. The programme also featured a floral tribute to Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, with the Chief Minister and other dignitaries paying their respects to his portrait.
