Tripura gets order to export 5MT state's famous Queen Pineapples to Dubai, more on card

Agartala, June 14: Tripura has received an order from Dubai to export 5 tonnes of state's famous Queen Pineapple, Minister for Agriculture Ratanlal Nath said.

He also said, talks are going on with Holland for export of 30 MT of this famous GI-tagged and organic fruit of Tripura.

Nath was speaking to the reporters after flagging-off a 600-kg consignment of Queen variety of pineapple for Oman at Agartala railway station.

The Agriculture minister said, while the export of state's fruits outside the country is benefiting the state's growers, a significant rise in the production is also being seen.

According to the Agriculture minister, the production of queen pineapple has significantly increased in the state over the past five years.

He said, before 2018, the total area for pineapple cultivation in the state was only 595 hectares. Over the past five years, the area of pineapple cultivation has increased to 5,654 hectares.

Earlier, Tripura had exported 33 MT famous Queen pineapples to Dubai, Qatar and Bangladesh. Besides, 12,551 MT of Queen variety of pineapples were also exported outside the state.

The Agriculture minister commented, it is the reflection of the government's efforts and unwavering commitment in global promotion the state's fruits since 2018.
