Tripura girl awarded Rashtriya Bal Puruskar for fight against ‘Child Marriage’

Agartala Jan 18: In a remarkable achievement, Jotsna Akhter, a 10th standard student of Amjad Nagar High School under Rishyamukh block in South Tripura, has been awarded with Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puruskar.

At this young age, Jotsna is making an outstanding contribution towards the society by preventing child marriages. Not only that, the standard 10 girl stopped her own child marriage while fighting against the family and other barriers.

Hailing from a minority family, Jotsna has emerged as an inspiration, a symbol of hope in the fight against child marriage.

The principal of Amjad Nagar High School, Subrata Chakraborty highly praised the efforts of Jotsna and mentioned how she has been fighting to prevent minor girls of the school from getting married.

Besides, Jotsna is also playing the role of a frontline worker of Balika Manch formed by the South Tripura District Magistrate.

Jotsna Akhter has been invited to attend the Republic Day celebrations in the national capital on January 26 and she will receive the award from the President of India on January 22.
