Agartala, August 2, 2026: The State-level launch of the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan” was successfully organised today at Tripura University by MY Bharat, Tripura, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. The campaign was formally inaugurated at the State level by the Governor of Tripura, Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from MY Bharat volunteers, students, teachers, government officials, and other stakeholders committed to building a drug-free India.

Participants joined the national programme through a live virtual broadcast from New Delhi. The programme commenced with an address by the Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, who highlighted the importance of youth participation in the nationwide anti-drug campaign. This was followed by an audio-visual presentation showcasing the objectives and activities of the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan.”

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, addressed the nation through a live virtual interaction. In his inspiring speech, the Prime Minister urged the youth of the country to unite against drug addiction and actively contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Meanwhile, addressing the gathering at Tripura University at Agartala, Governor Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu called upon every citizen of Tripura to actively participate in the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan.” He stated that this is not merely a government programme but a people's movement.

He appealed to parents to make their children aware of the dangers of drug abuse, teachers to guide students on the right path, community leaders to lead by example through their conduct, and the youth to not only say "No" to drugs but also inspire their peers to make the same commitment. He further stated that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government of India has been consistently taking effective measures against drug abuse since 2014.

The Governor mentioned that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, launched on 15 August 2020, was initially implemented in 272 drug-vulnerable districts across the country and has now been expanded to every district in India. He informed that the initiative is based on three major pillars: control of drug supply through the Narcotics Control Bureau; awareness generation and outreach by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment; and treatment and rehabilitation through the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

The Governor said that due to its geographical location and the vulnerable nature of its international border, Tripura is particularly susceptible to illegal drug trafficking. He observed that drug networks are actively targeting the State’s most valuable asset—its youth—pushing them towards addiction, which has severe adverse consequences on their health, families, and society as a whole. He emphasised that a coordinated effort involving the Central and State Governments, educational institutions, civil society, and the general public is essential to eliminate this menace.

During the programme, the Governor administered the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge to all those present. Among others, the event was attended by Professor Debabrata Das, Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University, Shri Tapan Kumar Das, Special Secretary, Department of Social Welfare & Social Education, Government of Tripura, Dr. Vishal Kumar, District Magistrate of West Tripura, Shri Mehbub Alam Laskar, Director, MY Bharat, Tripura, MY Bharat volunteers, Faculty members and students of Tripura University; and other distinguished guests.

Professor Debabrata Das, Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University, outlined the University’s future action plan for awareness and preventive initiatives and assured continued collaboration with MY Bharat in organising youth-centric programmes that promote health, social responsibility, and nation-building.
The programme reflected the collective resolve of the Government, educational institutions, and the youth to work together towards a Drug-Free India and the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
