Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu visited the Bagma Agriproducers Company Limited (BAPCL) at Bagma in Gomati district on Tuesday to review various agricultural initiatives undertaken at the site.
During his visit, the Governor inspected the Model Integrated Farming System that combines piggery, fishery, poultry, beekeeping, and goat rearing under one umbrella.
He also toured the milk collection centre, oil extraction unit, BAPCL’s market complex, and exhibition stalls showcasing local agricultural products.
The Governor interacted with farmers and staff to understand their challenges and experiences.
Speaking at the event, the Governor highlighted the importance of agriculture as the backbone of Tripura’s economy and the lifeline of its people.
He emphasized the need for adopting scientific techniques to make farming profitable in a rapidly changing global environment.
He lauded BAPCL’s integrated farming model as a benchmark in climate resilience and efficient resource utilization, especially noting its role in empowering tribal communities.
In a significant gesture of support, the Governor handed over a cheque of Rs. 1 crore from Punjab National Bank to BAPCL Managing Director Sudip Majumdar.
Later, the Governor chaired a meeting on agribusiness and financial empowerment at the BAPCL conference hall.
The meeting was attended by MLA Rampada Jamatia, Gomati District Magistrate Rinku Lathar, NABARD Tripura Regional Office General Manager Anil Katamari, senior officials from RBI, Tripura Gramin Bank Chairman Satyendra Singh, and agricultural scientists from ICAR and KVK.
