Tripura Governor urges people to adopt solar power to build pollution-free state

In a significant step towards promoting clean energy and building a pollution-free Tripura, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Friday inaugurated a 40-KW rooftop solar power plant at the Raj Bhavan, Agartala.

The project was implemented with the support of the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA).

Addressing the gathering at the inauguration ceremony, the Governor urged the people of Tripura to adopt solar energy and contribute towards a greener environment.

He emphasized that the Central Government is encouraging power generation through renewable energy sources and is even providing subsidies to households installing solar power systems.

The Governor advised residents to install rooftop solar plants on their homes, not only to meet their own electricity needs but also to sell the surplus power to the electricity department.

He further suggested that similar solar initiatives can be taken up in rural areas through self-help groups to ensure reliable electricity supply to households.

Highlighting the benefits in the agricultural sector, the Governor noted that solar power can play a crucial role in modernizing farm operations and reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.

Raj Bhavan Secretary U.K. Chakma and TREDA Director were present at the event.
