Tripura Govt announces 3% DA/DR hike as festive gift for employees and pensioners

Agartala, Sept 23: Bringing festive cheer ahead of Durga Puja, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday announced a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for state government employees and pensioners.

The hike will take effect from October 1, 2025.

The announcement was made during the concluding session of the 13th Tripura Legislative Assembly’s 8th sitting, around 9:30 pm. The declaration, eagerly awaited by government staff and retirees, was welcomed as a puja bonanza.

According to the Chief Minister, the decision will directly benefit 1,05,739 employees and 84,342 pensioners, requiring an additional outlay of Rs. 125 crore from the state exchequer.

Since the formation of the BJP-led government, Tripura has witnessed multiple DA/DR revisions to narrow the gap with central rates. Of the 36% DA/DR now enjoyed by employees and pensioners, 30% was granted during Dr. Saha’s tenure as Chief Minister.

During his address, Dr. Saha also engaged in discussions on welfare measures and expressed gratitude for the smooth conduct of Assembly proceedings.

Before adjourning the House sine die, he extended Durga Puja greetings, wishing peace, prosperity, and progress for the people of Tripura.
