In a reshuffle in Tripura Police, the state government has assigned Namit Pathak as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) for West Tripura district.

He replaced Kiran Kumar K., who has now been posted as SP of Gomati district.

The reshuffle marks Pathak’s return after he was closed to police headquarters following an incident in Gomati district on June 4 last. He was previously in-charge of SP, Gomati district.

Both Namit Pathak and then Additional SP Souvik Dey were earlier moved to police headquarters on June 4 following controversy over their handling of a protest by the Youth Tipra Federation (YTF) in Gomati on June 2.

Bijoy Debbarma, SP of Sepahijala, had been managing additional responsibilities for Gomati district since then. With Kiran Kumar’s new posting, Debbarma has now been relieved of the additional charge.

Meanwhile, Souvik Dey has been assigned a new role as Additional SP of the TPCB.
